What is your name? I go by Ellie. Almost every one calls me that other than family.
What is the name of your business? My current business is Luxe Beaute by Ellie, an high quality hair extension and wig line! Also currently pursuing my real estate brokers license, so stay tuned for that!
How long have you been in this field? I’ve been selling hair for almost 10 years and modeling for 5-6 years. The beauty industry has always been a passion of mine, I would love to start a make up line under Luxe Beaute by Ellie one day.
What inspired you to enter the hair care and beauty industry? I’ve always been a "girly girl". I’ve always like to get dressed, hair, make up, and put on a cute outfit it’s just who I am. I love clothes.
What was it like starting out? If referring to my modeling, it just happened. I would get so many people asking am I a model, would I do a shoot, video, or to model clothes for their brand. I kind of just fell into it.
What is your theme music (a song) that gets you in the mood to attack your day? I’m a Pisces, so I’m a moody person. It just really depends on my day and current mood. One day it my be a dusties, one day maybe a Nicki Minaj, Jhene aiko, or Megan day. One day might be rap or R&B. It’s hard to pinpoint one song.
On your journey, what is the toughest obstacle you’ve overcome?
People being so judgmental. Judging you from what they see and not what they know. I don't care what people think either way, but sometimes I hear stuff and just laugh like y’all really have no idea what you're saying or who I am.
What motivates you to get up every morning and follow your dream? My daughter for sure and my idea of how I want my future to look like. The type of woman I plan to be. The life I want to live.
What does Women Empowerment mean to you? SUPPORT. Supporting women businesses. Especially black owned women businesses and supporting women who provide services. If I can get a service done and you're good at what you do, you have a loyal client in me.
Anyone trying to enter your industry what is some advice you would give them? Don’t let the bad days get you down. One day you can make $1500-5k in one day and u might not make anything the next. Also don’t let the support you expect (family and friends) get to you. Your biggest supporters will be strangers.
